Guest lecture of Prof. Francis Yeoh (National University of Singapore, Singapore National Research Foundation) on Singapore’s efforts in developing an entrepreneurial eco-system. We invite you to attend a Guest lecture on development of an entrepreneurial eco-system and efficient methods of supporting young business by the example of Singapore – an advanced country holding leading positions in the Economic Freedom ranks. Short Bio: Francis Yeoh is presently Professorial Fellow for Entrepreneurship at the School of Computing, National University of Singapore (NUS), involved in helping early stage startup companies.  He has been teaching a graduate course on entrepreneurship at NUS for more than a decade.  He is also Consultant for Strategic Planning to local broadcasting company Mediacorp, in the areas of new business and innovation. 

Dr Yeoh was the first CEO of the Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF), a post he held for more than 6 years. The NRF was set up in Jan 2006 under the Prime Minister’s Office, with a 5-year budget of $5b to invest in research, innovation and enterprise.  He initiated and implemented many large research initiatives, as well as programmes to build up Singapore’s entrepreneurial eco-system, such as technology incubators and early stage venture funds.

Dr Yeoh was previously the Assistant Chief Executive of the National Science & Technology Board (now A*STAR), which was responsible for developing Singapore’s capabilities in science and technology.   

In a career spanning 30 years, he has always been deeply involved in R&D, technology, strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship.  He holds a B Sc (1st class Honours) in Systems Engineering, a PhD in telecommunications, both from Loughborough University, UK and a Masters in Management from MIT.   He is a senior member of the IEEE and the Singapore Computer Society.  He has served on numerous boards of companies and government appointed committees over the years.
